Switzerland striker Ramona Bachmann will miss the upcoming Euros in her home country after suffering a serious knee injury in training.
The former Chelsea player, 34, has won 153 caps for her country – scoring 60 times – but will miss the tournament and faces a long spell out.
The Swiss football federation said the injury happened without contact from another player. Tests on Thursday showed an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture in her left knee.
“I am deeply saddened to miss the Euros, especially here in Switzerland,” Bachmann said.
