Scotty Miller: ‘You See The Similarities’ Between Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Scotty Miller had the best stretch of his career playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when the team had Tom Brady at quarterback after he left the New England Patriots in free agency. Miller won a Super Bowl with Brady and the Buccaneers in 2020, and now, he has a chance to play with four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers on the Steelers. Speaking to Mike Prisuta after practice on Saturday, Miller said there are a lot of similar qualities between Brady and Rodgers.

“I could have never imagined playing with these two guys. Two of the best, probably the two best to ever do it. It’s awesome to see. You see the similarities, you see why they both have been so great, had so much success. Their approach to the game, their mindset, their mentality, how smart they are, and just how to bring the best out of everyone,” Miller said via Steelers.com.

Brady and Rodgers are both all-time greats, and to have the careers both of them have had, it takes a lot of patience and dedication. Miller sees that between the two of them, but not only does it take the right mindset, but it also takes talent. Brady was the best processor of all time, and he made all of his receivers better just by playing with them. Miller had a career-high 33 receptions for 501 yards with Tampa Bay in 2020, and Steelers’ receivers have praised Rodgers for his ball placement.

That’s showing the ability to make those around him better, and it could have a ripple effect for Pittsburgh’s offense. Not only does Rodgers’ presence as one of the best quarterbacks of all-time make the offense excited to play for him, but if he’s able to get the best out of all his pass-catchers, the offense is going to be better. It would take a lot of Rodgers to have the run that Brady had with the Buccaneers in 2020 to get the Steelers to a Super Bowl, but it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Rodgers has said and done all the right things since arriving in Pittsburgh, and after a 5-12 season with the New York Jets last season, he wants to prove he still has it. Miller is seeing a winning mentality and a winning mindset from Rodgers, and if he can continue to elevate the rest of the offense, the Steelers could catch lightning in a bottle this season.
